The Challenge
Another year is coming to an end and what better way to celebrate the close of the year than with a strong ale challenge. It's a great opportunity to find some new favorite beer to warm up with during the holidays.
The 2nd Annual Strong Ale Challenge will once again feature beers with an ABV of 8% or higher. These will be some big beers with a lot of complex flavors and depth. It's a tasting that is sure to challenge your palate!
As always San Diego breweries will play the starring role in this event. It'll be hard to narrow the list down to only 8 but we'll do our best to come up with a great lineup! Check the BeerNerdz Facebook page for updates on the featured breweries.
This unique blind tasting allows the seasoned beer connoisseur as well as the beer novice to test his or her skills in a fun, social setting. Guests will be given a scorecard with tasting notes, brewery and beer names, alcohol percentage, and IBU’s (bitterness scale) to help figure out what beer’s what. Compete against other craft beer enthusiasts to see who can name the most Strong Ales correctly. It’s a great opportunity to sample and learn about some of San Diego's best breweries in a comfortable environment.
Event includes scorecard, bottled water, crackers to help cleanse your palate, and of course a generous sampling of San Diego Strong Ales. Prizes awarded to the top 3 contestants.
Beer Co will provide amazing food specials for those participating in the tasting!

Beer Tasting Only ($35) - Come for the beer and compete with others to crown the San Diego Strong Ale Champion.
